"I have always been drawn to two polar opposite approaches to painting: the clarity and directness of hard-edged geometric, constructivism, and the power to convey emotion through expressionism. The core of my work explores my relationship to these approaches while visually addressing struggle, comfort, love, joy & death."
Harris has been painting for 35 years throughout the southwest and Mexico. She began exhibiting while living in Guadalajara in the mid-1970s and has since regularly exhibited her work in the Phoenix Gallery in New York City, the Raymond Jonson Gallery in Albuquerque, and The James A. Michener Museum in Pennsylvania, among many other art and retail spaces. Harris also has collectors throughout the US, Italy, Israel, Canada, and Mexico. Her paintings have garnered critical acclaim from major art publications to mainstream outlets, such as the Philadelphia Inquirer, which noted that Harris' large paintings "claim the space where they hang, destroying the sense of the room as an ordinary confine." Harris currently resides in Arizona with her husband.
